Publisher:  Sage Publications Ltd.
01-16-2013 For over 30 years, Thesis Eleven has published some of the leading work in the field of social theory. The journal is international and interdisciplinary, with a focus on "cultivating diverse critical theories of modernity." Incorporating both social sciences and liberal arts disciplines, from sociology and politics to philosophy, cultural studies, and literature, this publication includes European social theory as well as theory from other areas of the world. The editors are from Australian universities, while contributors to the journal are primarily from Europe, Canada, Australia, and the United States. Several research articles make up each issue, along with review essays and book reviews. Shorter essays or commentaries on earlier articles are also included. Recent articles have focused on topics such as sustainable development and environmental politics; the sociology of art; open-source knowledge and university rankings; colonial liberalism and Western Marxism; and academic entrepreneurship and the creative economy. This journal will appeal to academics, especially in the fields of sociology, politics, and philosophy. (Schwartz, Vanette M.)
