The Counseling Psychologist

01-16-2013 This Sage online publication is the official journal of the American Psychological Association's Division of Counseling Psychology. The journal publishes scholarly articles that provide comprehensive coverage of research and practice issues in counseling psychology. In-depth issues focus on topics such as counseling HIV-infected clients; counseling lesbian and gay clients; the counseling relationship; multicultural training; victimization; white racial identity; and delayed memory debate. Regular features include a forums section; treatises on current subjects; historical and current topic articles; reviews; and news and highlights of the division's activities. The forum section provides position papers, survey reports, illustrations of assessment and intervention techniques, such as those from the Legacies and Traditions Forum, the Professional Forum, the Scientific Forum, and the International Forum. Recent issues have looked at: the decline in counseling and supervision process and outcome research; the warrior spirit and soul wound and coping among American Indians in law enforcement; provider perspectives about Latino patients and the determinants of care and implications for treatment; finding richness in conflict and context; "Do religious coping styles moderate or mediate the external and internalized racism-distress links?"; parental attachment, interparental conflict, and young adults' emotional adjustment; the role of counseling psychology to address bereavement and college students; microskills training for counseling psychology; and microaggression and women in short-term psychotherapy. Academic and professional libraries that support clinical psychologists will want to have this title. (Woolums, Jill)
