Represented disciplines include political science, sociology, environmental studies, anthropology, literature, history, economics, and philosophy. Articles and commentary are published. Occasional special sections may be published; a recent theme was the cause and implications of research policies emphasizing material outputs. Signed book reviews (3,000 words) are published intermittently. The title ranks second by 2010 Impact Factor among 35 journals in JCR Social Sciences Edition's "social issues" category.
