Science Communication

03-15-1995 This journal attempts to bridge the gap between expertise and knowledge and practical application of that knowledge by quantifying success of public-policy programs. Articles report research on policies and programs that have translated research into results; other authors reflect on the value of accumulated bodies of knowledge. Sample topics include measuring arguments in evaluation research, use of information by policymakers, validity of field research, and ways in which understanding areas of ignorance can assist in problem solving. A recent issue had a section on noteworthy items; one reported on a workshop sponsored by the American Association for the Advancement of Science on viewing science and technology through a multicultural prism. Quantifying research is an important tool for sociologists; recommended for all academic libraries with social sciences programs.
