Race & Class

Publisher:  Sage Publications Ltd.
01-16-2013 Race & Class is a quarterly British journal that is international in scope and examines racism, class bias, and imperialism in contemporary society and historically. Formerly titled Race, the journal was established in 1959 by the Institute of Race Relations, a nonprofit organization known for cutting-edge "research and analysis that informs the struggle for racial justice in Britain and internationally." It has an international editorial board that includes African American scholars, and it regularly publishes articles about African American history and life. Its peer-reviewed research articles, commentaries, and book reviews are scholarly, incisive, and usually far left-of-center. Contributors include academics, scientists, artists, novelists, journalists, and politicians. A good example of the journal's interest in American race relations is its special issue titled "Cedric Robinson and the Philosophy of Black Resistance," which focused on Robinson's studies of black Marxism. The journal is available in print and electronic formats. Highly recommended for academic libraries. URL: http://rac.sagepub.com/ (Rudisell, Carol)
