Psychological Science

01-16-2013 This is the official journal of the Association for Psychological Science. It publishes empirical, theoretical, and applied psychology articles, papers concerning psychological issues related to government and public affairs, and reports that summarize recent research developments. Subject areas include brain and behavior, clinical science, cognition, learning and memory, social psychology, and developmental psychology. Recent issues have addressed: how mating interest improves women's accuracy in judging male sexual orientation; a functional role for the motor system in language understanding; superior identification of familiar visual patterns a year after learning; the value of "If-Then" personality knowledge in close relationships; how unrealistic idealization prevents the decline of marital satisfaction; asymmetry in resting intracortical activity as a buffer to social threat; and the effects of age on time-dependent cognitive change. Libraries that support general and advanced psychology programs will benefit from having this title. (Woolums, Jill)
