Modern China

01-16-2013 This journal is devoted to "scholarship in history and the social sciences on late-imperial, twentieth-century, and present-day China." It provides new interpretations, new questions, and new answers to old questions. While covering the entire modern period of China (i.e., from about 1500 to the present), it particularly focuses on the revolutionary experience. Originated in the United States, this journal is in English and authors are international. In addition to research articles, Modern China presents periodic symposia on important topics in Chinese studies, critical essays on the state of Chinese studies, in-depth review articles on particular areas of scholarship, and article-length reviews of books of unusual quality and significance. Two recent issues examine Chinese women writers and the Japanese cultural agenda in Manchuria 1936;b21945, political trust in rural China, and philosophical analysis of problem of China?s images. Recommended for academic libraries that support Chinese history or Asian Studies programs.
