Media, Culture & Society

Publisher:  Sage Publications Ltd.
01-16-2013 Media, Culture & Society is an internationally focused, peer-reviewed journal that looks at media issues in their "political, economic, cultural, and historical context." Articles range from explorations of issues within one media source or technology, to broad analysis of media policy. Recent relevant social media articles include "Twitter, a microphone for the masses"; "Religious digital communities"; and an ethnographic study of a specific online TV community. This journal adds to the discussion of contemporary social media issues, such as the changing nature of journalism; crowd-sourcing labor theories; and power, democracy, and the Internet. The interdisciplinary nature of this journal makes it a good fit for academic sociology, communications, media, journalism, and cultural studies collections. (Brown, Wendy M.)
