Journal for the Study of the Old Testament

Publisher:  Sage Publications Ltd.
01-16-2013 The Journal for the Study of the Old Testament publishes five issues every year, devoted to the critical analysis of the Old Testament books. The journal is wide-ranging: a variety of methodologies are employed, and, while the focus of this journal is on the Old Testament, authors often use outside ancient sources for scholarly comparison. As a result, JSOT is a highly stimulating resource for those interested in biblical studies, theology, or ancient religious writings. Recent articles have included "Job as Comedy, Revisited," "Polite Israel and Impolite Edom: Israel's Request to Travel through Edom in Numbers 20.14-21," and "Was Yahweh Worshiped in the Aegean?" Book reviews are published every year in a dedicated issue organized by subject area and containing indexes for authors, reviewers, series, and publishers. This journal is recommended for large public libraries and academic libraries, particularly those that support programs in biblical studies and theology. (Bales, Stephen)
