Journal for the Study of the New Testament

Publisher:  Sage Publications Ltd.
01-16-2013 The Journal for the Study of the New Testament is an outlet for research examining the New Testament from a variety of methodological perspectives, including, according to its web site, "innovative work from historical perspectives, studies using social scientific and literary theory of developing theological, cultural[,] and contextual approaches." The diversity of methodological and theoretical perspectives is refreshing, and the occasional thematic issue, such as the recent edition dedicated to reception history of the Bible, facilitate the perspicuous understanding of a topic. Book reviews do not appear in every issue, but they appear as part of an August "Booklist" issue that organizes reviews by broad category, e.g., "New Testament Topics," "Jesus," and "Gospels." This journal is recommended for academic libraries, particularly those that support programs in theology. (Bales, Stephen)
