History of the Human Sciences

Publisher:  Sage Publications Ltd.
01-16-2013 Based on a broad definition of the human sciences, this publication offers a range of scholarly articles that link research from traditional social science disciplines including sociology, psychology, anthropology, and political science with the areas of philosophy, literary criticism, art history, linguistics, psychoanalysis, aesthetics, and law. Some issues focus on one theme, such as histories of science; the history of the science of consciousness; and neuroscience, power, and culture. Other issues cover a variety of topics, such as the therapeutic value of work; alienation theory; linguistics in the Cold War years; medicine and the history of sociology; and revisionism and meta-history. Reviews of individual books as well as review essays appear regularly. Most contributors are academics from British, European, and U.S. institutions. This journal will appeal to scholars and advanced students who are interested in the complex relationships between social science and humanities research. (Schwartz, Vanette M.)
