Discourse & Society

Publisher:  Sage Publications Ltd.
01-16-2013 Discourse & Society is an international, multidisciplinary journal of discourse analysis. The journal studies "society through discourse and discourse through an analysis of its sociopolitical and cultural functions or implications." Social, political, or cultural problems of the day that require a multidisciplinary approach are featured. The journal requires accessibility as one criterion; that is, articles should be accessible to readers of various levels of expertise and specialization, and to readers from varied disciplines and countries. Articles from a recent issue include "Bridging the gap: Interdisciplinary insights into the securitization of poverty" and "Journalists on the news: The structured panel discussion as a form of broadcast talk." Lengthy book reviews are included, and issues are occasionally devoted to special topics. An expensive title, but appropriate for research libraries. (Sullivan, Laura)
