The Gerontologist

From the Gerontological Society of America, this peer-reviewed journal presents a "multidisciplinary perspective on human aging through the publication of research and analysis in gerontology, including social policy, program development[,] and service delivery." There are articles from a wide range of disciplines, such as social sciences, biomedical fields, the humanities, economics, education, and the law. Each issue contains 10;b214 articles of several types: "Research Articles" and "Brief Reports" (on original research), "The Forum" (review or viewpoint articles on a hot topic), "Practice Concepts" (on innovative practices or programs), "Policy Studies," "Letters to the Editor," "Book Reviews," and "Guest Editorials." It does occasionally have special thematic issues or supplements; for example, "The Science of Recruitment and Retention Among Ethnically Diverse Older Adults." Examples of recent articles are "Aging Well and the Environment: Toward an Integrative Model and Research Agenda," "Adapting Stanford's Chronic Disease Self-Management Program to Hawaii's Multicultural Population," and "Primary Care Clinician Expectations Regarding Aging."
