01-16-2013 The English Historical Review covers a range of topics in English medieval and modern history since the classical period. Articles are generally quite dense, with the usual scholarly apparatus. Each issue has a "Notes and Documents" and "Debates" sections, with one or two articles analyzing one or multiple archival documents and debates on medieval and modern themes. Numerous book reviews are also included. Recent issues include such articles as "Anti-communism in Mid-Twentieth Century Ireland" and "Piety, Profit, and Public Service in the Financial Revolution." This is certainly one of the most important journals on the subject of British history and is recommended for all academic libraries. (Fladger, Ellen)
