Modern Judaism

01-16-2013 Published by Oxford University Press, Modern Judaism collects research about modern Jewish history, culture, ideas, and more. The time period covered begins with the Jewish Renaissance (beginning ca. 1770 ;scC.E.;ec) and extends to the present day. Recent issues show the eclectic nature of this journal, including historical analyses of Jewish experience in World War II, the philosophy of Emmanuel Levinas, and the work of Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchk. While the scholarship is rigorous, it is accessible to the general reader. Considering the importance of Judaism and the Jewish experience in the development of the modernity, Modern Judaism is of great value to multiple academic disciplines in the humanities and social sciences, and should be a part of all academic library collections. Large public libraries and public libraries that serve large Jewish communities will also find this publication a valuable edition to their current periodicals collection. (Bales, Stephen)
