Topics cover a range of disciplines including plant physiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and biophysics. The focus of these articles ranges from the molecular level to cellular through whole plant to community. Each issue also contains at least one "Perspective" article that reviews an area of current research controversy or interest. In addition to the monthly issues of the journal, at least one special issue is published each year that collects relevant articles from a current conference or meeting. There are open-access options available for authors in this journal, so some articles are freely available to the reader. This journal would be of interest to general or specialized researchers in plant biology, particularly those interested in the cutting-edge research in the field.
