International Journal of Lexicography

03-22-2007 While this international and interdisciplinary journal publishes articles on all aspects of lexicography theory and research, it is specifically concerned with the design, compilation, and use of dictionaries and other reference works. Similarly, it covers all languages, but focuses on major European languages, "monolingual and bilingual, synchronic and diachronic, pedagogical and encyclopedic." Articles in related fields such as computational linguistics are also found. Recent articles include "Italian historical dictionaries: specific themes and trends" and "The syntagmatics of metaphor and idiom." In addition to the two articles, one review article, and five to eight book reviews, the EURALEX (European Association for Lexicography) Newsletter is included in each issue. More information about the association can be obtained at www.euralex.org. A core general linguistics selection for most academic libraries. See also Dictionaries (above) and International Journal of Corpus Linguistics (below in this section). (Ruppel, Margie)
