The Journal of Hellenic Studies

03-09-2010 This venerable and highly regarded journal publishes studies in Greek literature, history, archaeology, and philosophy. Contributors traditionally have been predominantly British, although more American and European scholars now appear among them. A typical issue includes about ten articles, many of substantial length. The extensive book review section is a particularly valuable feature; it covers most important books on classical Greek Studies in English and western European languages. Frequently, there are one or two review articles that discuss several books on related themes. Tables of contents and abstracts for recent issues are available on the publisher's web site. Subscriptions also include the annual publication Archaeological Reports, which consists largely of reports on current British excavations of classical sites. (Jenkins, Fred W.)
