The Journal of African History

01-16-2013 With increasing emphasis on economic, cultural, and social history, articles in this excellent journal cover all aspects and periods of African history, from the late Stone Age to the present. This journal is published three times a year, and each issue includes five or six long scholarly research articles. Essay topics include: Korle and the mosquito: histories and memories of the anti-maleria campaign in Accra, 1942;b245; and a chronicle of a coup foretold: Valentine Musakanya and the 1980 coup attempt in Zambia. The book review section serves as a good resource for collection development. Online access is available to subscribers. A searchable digital archive with all the articles published from 1960;b296 has recently become available from the publishers. Tables of contents and abstracts are available free on this journal's web site. Highly recommended for collections that support the study of African history. For a similar journal in quality and scope, see International Journal of African Historical Studies (above in this section). (Kale, Esmeralda)
