01-16-2013 The primary mission of the European Journal of Physics is to assist in maintaining and improving the standard of physics teaching in universities and other institutes of higher education. It publishes articles on topics relating to the fundamentals of physics education; papers on laboratory exercises illustrating novel techniques; original insights into the derivation of results; reports on new developments in physics curricula and the techniques of teaching physics; and papers describing the cultural, historical, and technological aspects of physics. It is a place for teachers, instructors, and professors to exchange their views on teaching physics at university level and share their experiences. Because the papers are intended to aid in the teaching of the subject rather than to present original research results, the editors encourage authors to avoid high-level mathematics, thus making the papers more accessible to a general audience. Although this is a European journal, almost every article published is in English. Full papers and letters are accepted, along with comments on previously published works. Some articles have accompanying multimedia content that is available through the web site. Occasional special issues follow specific themes. In order to reach the widest possible audience in the physics education community, all articles from the current month are provided free for the first 30 days after publication. This title is the European equivalent of the American Journal of Physics (above) and is a useful supplement to any college or university physics collection. (Tyckoson, David A.)
