01-16-2013 International Journal of Offender Therapy and Comparative Criminology publishes articles that focus on research and theory as they inform treatment practices for criminal offenders. The journal addresses three primary aspects of offender therapy;b1psychological, due to the preponderance of offenders with serious psychological disorders; genetic/biological, to help inform those treating offenders to recognize and deal with these factors; and environmental, which looks at the influences of offenders' life histories on their behavior. Examples of recent article topics include a study of a risk-assessment instrument and repeat offenders; the change of prisoners' social bonds during their incarceration and its effect on the success of their reentry to society; and a guest editorial that looks at how the role of psychologists in prison has evolved from a helper to a risk assessor. Contributors to this journal come from a variety of disciplines, and include psychologists, social workers, counselors, health scientists, legal studies scholars, sociologists, and medical professionals, as well as corrections and criminal justice researchers and policy makers. In keeping with the editorial intent to present articles from international scholars, research from other countries is included. Sage publishes this journal, which is available in print and online.
