Crime & Delinquency

Издатель:  Sage Publications, Inc.
01-16-2013 Crime & Delinquency is one of the most highly respected journals in the study of criminology. The journal dates back to volume 1 in 1955, when it was published by the National Council on Crime and Delinquency (NCCD). Sage began publishing the journal for the organization in 1984, and now works directly with the editor, who is not associated with NCCD. The organization remains tied to the journal through the editorial board, and it sometimes compiles special issues. Crime & Delinquency's articles are policy-oriented, and span the breadth of all criminal justice issues, including juvenile and adult offenders, victims, police and other law enforcement agencies, and crime prevention. They consist of qualitative or quantitative research, reviews of recent literature, debates of current issues, or discussions of future directions in the field. Contributors are for the most part U.S. academics from the disciplines of sociology, criminology, family therapy, social work, and other related subjects. However, some articles are written by international scholars, practitioners from public policy think tanks, or governmental agencies. The journal has an editorial policy of requiring authors to present their conclusions, particularly statistical information, in a manner that is accessible to non-academic practitioners. Its audience is policy-makers, academics, and criminal justice researchers in any setting. The quality of the articles and the clarity of the writing make this also an excellent resource for college students studying criminal justice, sociology, social work, counseling, or public administration. It is available in print and online from Sage at The online archive goes back to 1955. (Metcalf, Susan)
