Journal of Urban History

Издатель:  Sage Publications, Inc.
01-16-2013 Devoted to "the history of cities and urban societies throughout the world in all periods of human society," this journal pays special attention to studies "offering important new insights or interpretations; utilizing new research techniques or methodologies; [and] comparing urban societies over space and/or time." The contents of each volume generally meet these demanding editorial criteria, although there is an overall emphasis on modern history. There are three or four articles per issue, treating such topics as city planning history, migration, and urban growth. Additionally, some issues have special sections (with guest editors) devoted to such topics as "Public places and private lives in Paris." Books are critically reviewed in three or four lengthy review essays. This is a fine scholarly journal of interdisciplinary value that does justice to a crucial subject of international importance.
