Издатель:  Sage Publications, Inc.
01-16-2013 This Sage publication presents current research and theoretical articles that concern the influence of environment on individuals, groups, and institutions. The journal includes feature articles, discussions, and book reviews. Topics covered include values and attitudes of people toward various environments; the effectiveness of environmental designs; transportation issues; recreation issues; interrelationships between human environments and behavior; and planning, policy, and political issues. The journal is interdisciplinary, with articles from specialists in anthropology, architecture, design, education, geography, political science, psychology, sociology, and urban planning. Special supplements are sometimes published to highlight leading scholars and significant issues such as litter control, public participation in evaluation of designs, and museum design. Recent issues have looked at: adaptation to windowlessness and how office workers compensate for a lack of visual access to the outdoors; commuting behavior and recreational physical activity; the effects of the place image and place-identity in a school setting; attitudes toward rural landscape change in England; the effects of area, height, elongation and color on perceived spaciousness; exploring the effects of social, economical, and spatial factors on burglary rates; the environmental and social dimensions, temporal perspective, and choice of one's last resting place; the effects of classroom acoustics on performance and well-being in elementary school children; and interpersonal behavior in an isolated and confined environment. This interdisciplinary journal is important for libraries that serve humanities, social sciences, and science undergraduate and graduate programs. (Woolums, Jill)
