The Review of English Studies

Издатель:  Oxford University Press
01-16-2013 This elite journal from Oxford University Press focuses on "historical scholarship" of "English literature and the English language from the earliest period to the present." Though the journal's chronological scope includes all time periods, most articles focus on pre;b2nineteenth-century authors. Recent scholarship includes "A Bloody Shame: Chaucer's Honorable Women" and "The Voice of Flattery vs Sober Truth: William Godwin, Thomas Erskine and the 1792 Trial of Thomas Paine for Sedition." There was also an article that "introduces and prints" text from a fifteenth-century English manuscript. Each issue also features a large section of two- to three-page reviews. Recommended for academic libraries. (HB) (Buchanan, Heidi)
