01-16-2013 American Studies from an international perspective is the focus of this publication. U.S. literary works, politics, history, and economics are covered, as are art, music, film, and popular culture. Most contributors are from British universities, although some articles are by U.S. and European authors. Many articles explore American literary classics or historical topics, but cross-disciplinary and comparative cultural studies are also included. Recent articles cover such topics as political blogs; jazz as an African American art form; compassionate conservatism; and changes in the American left. Each issue includes many book reviews; review essays also appear in some issues. The journal is sponsored by the British Association for American Studies.
