English Today

Издатель:  Cambridge University Press
03-22-2007 English Today is distinguished from other linguistic journals by involving its readers in debates and discussions about British, American, and other "Englishes"; boasting a diverse set of readers (linguists, journalists, teachers, publishers, writers, and students); and publishing brief, informal reports on the English language (articles are 2;b27 pages in length). Indeed, this journal provides an informal look at English style, usage, dictionaries, literature, Plain English, the Internet, and language teaching. Recent articles focus on intercultural communication, the Bible, television shows, poetry, calligraphy, consonants, grammar, loanwords, and English in Malaysia. Two special issues have been published, one on Latin and English as world languages, and one on English in Chinese. Articles rarely reveal original research, which is why libraries should consider this journal only if they are interested in providing an enjoyable, entertaining look at English. (Ruppel, Margie)
