02-01-2011 This is a peer-reviewed journal with scholarship in the field of historical sociology, with a focus on comparative studies over a broad range of cultures and time spans. It also draws from the fields of anthropology, demography, economics, history, and law. Three issues are produced annually; typically two have been special issues, focusing on a particular topic such as social inequality and mobility in history. Typical issues contain a half-dozen research articles and two or three book reviews. The articles are written by international authors, and abstracts are available in English, French, and German.
