Annual Review of Applied Linguistics

Издатель:  Cambridge University Press
03-15-1995 The ARAL is unique in this section since it is only published once a year. Each issue is devoted to a particular theme which for one volume was "Issues in Second Language Teaching and Learning" and for another "National Curriculum Planning for Second Language Learning." Previous subscribers should take note that with volumes 14 and 15 a new system of cover dating was put into effect. Instead of reflecting the fact that ARAL primarily covered the preceding year's research in applied linguistics, the editor now feels that this is not appropriate since the volumes present issues of continuing topical interest, without date limits, and because the old system was confusing. This publication serves an important role in the field because it sums up so well the progress in a particular area of linguistics every year, a sort of a state-of-the-art report. The main emphasis is on the learning and teaching of languages. The series is meant to be a reference tool and as such provides scholarly, well-written, interesting articles that are commissioned for this publication alone and thus not likely to be found elsewhere. Of particular use are the extensive bibliographies, both annotated and unannotated. Also very helpful are the separate indexes for author, title, and contributor. Recommended for all academic collections.
